ABSTRACT
For a new researcher, the process of developing a new empirical study can be, at the same time, both exciting and overwhelming. Among the many decisions that need to be made are the type and source of data to be collected. At this stage one of the most basic choices researchers are faced with is whether to collect original data or to use secondary data. Throughout this chapter the pros and cons of each of these types of data are discussed.
