ABSTRACT

Marriage and family therapists can teach in programs that cover areas related to our field, such as sociology, diversity, psychology, mental health, and social work, as well as teach in programs that focus on marriage and family therapy specifically. Students are a special population, and sensitivity to their needs is important. Rosario notes that, as with clients, they can be led to knowledge, but not forced into it. All our success stories agree it is important to stay current in the field, and accommodate to the learning needs of diverse students. Professional growth is often based on personal connections. Jacquie's advice centers on a spiritual note: he encourage graduates to examine and clarify how MFT training connects with your life purpose. Training and teaching and helping others to learn is rewarding for Rosario, Iliamaris, and Jacquie.
