ABSTRACT

Coaching is a relatively new area of interest to marriage and family therapists and other mental health professionals, but also to those from business or health backgrounds. The process is more strictly goal focused than psychotherapy, and the process of becoming a coach involves more training as well. Katia is a recent graduate with a master's in marriage and family therapy. Katia has combined her previous life experience with systems thinking, family therapy ideas, and coaching training. Most of the time, sales professionals and managers cooperate in coaching sessions despite our differences. Trish added to her coaching expertise when she realized "a demand for ethics coaching for human services workers. The ethics courses she taught at the University of Phoenix for health and human services students afforded me an advantage in seeing the value of coaching clients through the processes of ethical standards in their field".
