ABSTRACT

Introduction The objective of this chapter is to explain the political, cultural, and social conditions under which the Taselotzin – meaning “share the fruits that the Earth gives us” – Project came into existence. The project at present is part of the Alternative and Ecological Tourism Network of the Northern Mountain Range of the State of Puebla in Mexico. It is a project that emerged from an organization of indigenous women in the early 1990s. As an important component of the development of rural and ecological tourism, the participation and struggles of indigenous women in the project have been critical. The aim here is to illustrate those challenges.
