ABSTRACT
With the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the relentless influence of the cold war upon the nation and its national security strategy vanished. Some, believing that mankind had reached the pinnacle of ideological evolution, wrote of the end of history with the United States as the world’s lone super-power (Fukuyama 1989).
