ABSTRACT

Journalists play a vital role in a splintered society such as the one we experience today. We can show the enduring roots of structural racism, and the way its branches and leaves intersect with class, reaching into all sectors of society. We may encounter resistance and fear, even in ourselves, as we take on this task. But the authors encourage journalists to do so because it is core to our mission and a necessary step in earning back the public trust we have lost in recent years.
