ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the perspective that it will be possible to integrate forms of work from some of these approaches for different models of brief art therapy. A prospective user of art therapy might begin in orthodox services and have a period of more traditional art therapy before moving into community groups and more adapted forms of art therapeutic work. In reading both the case study and the systematic research accounts it seems important to wonder about the function of the art made in brief art therapy. Looking across the centuries to the great line drawings of Albrecht Drer, or Leonardo da Vinci, we can see their lasting impact, although some we are told were the work of moments. Photographic work though often made briefly can have huge emotional impact.
