ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book considers the role of narratives among professionals, and provides a few thoughts about how narratives might be used in a variety of practice and personal settings. There is no doubt that a more mindful approach to narratives can not only improve the patient experience, but also the enjoyment and practice of people who work in healthcare with those who are often experiencing some of their darkest times. The book discusses the very important role that stories play in people's recovery and in helping them find better ways of coping. It concludes with further indications continue to emerge of the changing nature of the condition with what appears to be evidence of a new borna-virus, spread by captive, rare-breed squirrels, resulting in the deaths of three of their owners from encephalitis.
