ABSTRACT
This chapter includes the daily interactions of a plurality of actors that participates with the journalists in a collective construction of news narratives about current events. It discusses actor-network theory allows us to approach news practices without defining any boundaries and invites us to trace how the interactions between actors shape their actions. It also explores the position of professional journalism in the wider context of the controversy, and rethinks the boundaries of journalism as the evolving outcome of daily practices and interactions. The chapter presents the perspective of dialogism, which suggests that every discursive practice has embedded in itself previous discourses and future discourses. For journalism studies, it offers the opportunity to address the analysis of the production of news without imposing the traditional categories associated to specific roles. The professional boundaries of journalism were an important symbolic resource in the construction of the obligatory point of passage of mainstream media.
