ABSTRACT

Global Climate Coalition was the name of the network used by industry and commercial groups in the USA to oppose action against climate change between 1989 and 2002. The group finally disbanded in 2002, claiming that it had served its purpose by contributing to perspectives to possible approaches to global warming. The Global Environmental Facility is the largest multinational fund devoted to assisting developing countries to fund projects and programmes that help protect the environment. Scientists had long discovered that the naturally occurring functions of some trace gases in the atmosphere mimic those of the glass in a greenhouse, hence the name 'greenhouse effect'. Greenpeace International is one of the most influential environmental non-governmental organizations in the world. The forum was very active during the third UN Conference on the Law of the Sea, regularly providing a basis for internal consultation and the strengthening of developing countries' position on a number of thorny issues.
