ABSTRACT
This piece focuses on two key issues I experienced during my PhD research, and discusses some ethical dilemmas in ethnographic research during eldwork and writing up. I rst look at some implications of choices made in terms of address, in both face-to-face communication and writing. I then consider what may be lost and gained in translation.
