Despite the science crises, something seems to be happening to the public perception of science and scientists. In April 2010, The Guardian newspaper ran a feature entitled ‘How science became cool’ explaining that:
The incredible ambition of the Large Hadron Collider has fi red our imagination; physicists have become cult TV stars; dramatic new pictures from space grace a million computer screensavers. Is this a golden age of science?
