ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 describes Marie, a woman who has lost her desire, and enters the psychoanalytic process in order to recapture her life. Her story includes the description of family, relationships, vocational aptitude, and forsaken intimacy. As Marie places her focus on work, she is stymied by the increasing separateness she feels from her sexuality, and her capacity for affect and seeks a therapeutic relationship in order to explore the factors that have affected intimacy, passion, and satisfaction in life.
