ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts covered in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book explains the importance of language in ongoing exchanges with each other. The importance of the visibility of children's learning, skills, and processes they use in their enquiries across a range of media. It is about being open to a paradigm shift that can cause those involved to feel vulnerable, but at the same time being willing to 'give it a go'. Sharron gives an honest account of the struggles of herself and her fellow educators to grasp and understand. It means having a belief in pedagogical documentation as a way of unlocking the potential of children. Terms like 'proposals for learning' and 'possibilities for learning' are being used much more widely within Stirling Council. This is an area that considers to be work in progress and continue to be, the subject of much professional dialogue within and outside Professional Development courses.
