ABSTRACT

Elsewhere in this book, the phenomenon of forced eviction and resettlement is examined with a view to understanding the responses of the communities affected and the factors driving their responses, towards the goal of influencing public policy for the better protection of people living in the path of economic development. This chapter provides a case study of the people affected by one project – an urban development project at Boeung Kak Lake, Phnom Penh – examining the responses of the affected communities to the prospect of eviction.
