ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews how technologies are being or could be used by people with neurodevelopmental disorders and to consider the available evidence everyone have for best practice in the field. Technology, and skills in using technology, offers much to people with additional support needs. In addition, there are a number of disability-specific technologies which address a bewilderingly broad range of functions. This chapter refers to computerised devices and accompanying software of all kinds. Computers are used for academic or professional activities such as word processing, leisure such as online shopping, as well as social and entertainment functions. All of these mainstream technologies are being used by people with neurodevelopmental disorders. This chapter talks about Hypermedia condition was more effective with typically developing (TD) participants, too, but notably the learning gap between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and TD participants was reduced in the hypermedia condition.
