ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book brings the original knowledge to the literature on women and sport. It explores the voices of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Latin American sport-interested women to an international English-speaking audience. The book illustrates the importance of the woman's revolution to changing the way lives are lived across Latin America. It illustrates the ways in which Latin American women have resurrected the visibility of the power, energy, drive and success of girls and women through sport. In El Salvador, before the millennium it was not normal to have women as sport commentators on television, or radio, because it was deemed a male domain. In the book authors have illustrated how, in every country, some women have reopened the path to strong leadership, empowerment, physical capability and success, through sport.
