Introduction

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. Structurally, as an attempt to "engage intersectionality heuristically, throughout all aspects of the book", we embody matter by "intentionally linking the ideological, hence the socially constructed worlds, with the material" through "elemental segmentation". The much publicized 2015 Paris Climate Talks have resulted in 195 nations signing what has been referred to as a "landmark climate accord". A meeting held simultaneously in Paris was that of the International Rights of Nature Tribunal. As part of a two-volume series, understanding Emergent Possibilities requires revisiting our intent in Systemic Crises. The UCC report was a response to a number of top-down attempts to quiet growing claims and grievances, including a 1983 Government Accountability Office's (GAO) report, Siting of Hazardous Waste Landfills and Their Correlation to the Racial and Economic Status of Surrounding Communities.
