ABSTRACT

Eleven is a difficult age for most children because they move from enthusiastically embracing the joys, challenges, and excitement of childhood, and begin to make their first forays into the world of adolescence, hormones, and acceptance of adult roles. In some school districts, sixth-graders are placed in elementary school; in others, they are placed in middle school. Both parents and teachers seem to be just as confused as 11-year-olds about where the children belong.
