ABSTRACT

This chapter talks about authors, as a dean of the institute for teacher education at the Eindhoven University of Technology, which is located in the southern part of the Netherlands. This institute is named Eindhoven School of Education (ESoE). It offers a two-year Masters program for students for becoming certified teachers in the highest levels of secondary education. The focus is on educating teachers for teaching science subjects and mathematics. ESoE's Masters and PhD programs are part of the Graduate School of the University. This school accommodates all Masters and PhD programs of the Eindhoven University of Technology. The program ESoE offers is small-scale, very intensive from a supervision and mentoring perspective, and asks for many contacts with schools and their teachers who guide peoples student teachers' learning in the workplace. In short, schools and teacher education institutes increasingly become dependent on each other both in the education of teachers and in research on teaching practices.
