ABSTRACT
‘I just don't have enough time’; ‘I am overloaded with demands’; ‘Time flashes by’. Such phrases about time are commonplaces of everyday life and, not surprisingly, such sentiments too are not infrequently part of university life today; and across the world. And yet the matter has not been much studied. By and large, while it has become a key element within universities, academic time has only recently become a topic of systematic inquiry. This book, therefore, aims to add to our understanding of time in the academy, bringing together scholars from around the world each with a distinctive perspective on the matter.
