ABSTRACT
Urban rivers offer the opportunity for creating a special kind of waterfront promenade: a promenade loop. Promenades can be created on both banks of the river and linked with bridges or by other means. People moving on one side can look across and see people moving on the other side. A promenade loop helps make an urban river a connector of city pieces rather than a divider.
