ABSTRACT

In its common usage, globalization refers to the increasing interdependency and interconnectedness of individuals, social groups, states and economies across the world. It is a complex process, but the single most compelling force behind globalization is the movement of capital and credit resulting from investment, and resource and profit extraction by multinational corporations in global markets. Most commentators agree that globalization and the increased prominence and power of transnational corporations and their worldwide chains of production are the direct result of deliberate political decisions made at the highest levels of power among the strongest economic nations in the world, aimed at increasing profits by exploiting the cheapest sources of labour and raw materials. Types of crime and patterns of criminality have been impacted by globalization in every society across the world. Globalization affects what kind of work people do, or if they work at all. It dictates where people live and defines the cultures of communities worldwide.
