ABSTRACT
It is every police officer’s nightmare: they receive notice that they are being subject to an Internal Affairs investigation, disciplinary proceeding, administrative action, or legal charge. Some officers are caught by surprise by these actions; for others, it is the culmination of a long period of problems within the department.
