ABSTRACT

The DD(Difference-in-differences) approach was established to identify treatment effects that occur at a particular location after a specific period. The DD approach is used to compare the differences in outcome between a treatment and control group and also to compare the differences and after a specific period. To improve air quality during the 2008 Summer Olympics and the Paralympic Games the Beijing government implemented various aggressive measures, both in Beijing and in the surrounding area. This approach can be used to evaluate the impact of a mega sports event. Arne and Maennig analysed the regional economic impact on the labour market of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany using regionally and sectorally disaggregated data. The statistical data cover data for entire station data instead of sampled data from plant. Hotchkiss et al the DD approach can be used to isolate the impact of an event from pure macroeconomic shocks.
