ABSTRACT

Food security is a global concern aff ecting millions of people worldwide, particularly in Asia and Africa. The global food price crisis in 2008 has shown that the issue of food security is interlinked and incredibly complicated with much wider implications than expected. Viewing food security as a ‘wicked problem’ is thus a positive step in acknowledging and accepting the serious challenges that the world is facing (Perrett, 2013 ). Approaching food security with such a view may encourage the emergence of new and innovative ways to tackle these problems.
