ABSTRACT

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education is facing unprecedented challenges nowadays due to the increasing demand of careers in science and technology from one side and the decreasing interest of students to follow these careers from the other. According to the European Commission – Directorate General for Research and Innovation, one million net additional researchers are needed in Europe by 2020 to meet the research and development intensity target of 3of GDP (Scientix, 2011).
