ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of Chain of Custody (CoC) certification according to FSC standards. After introducing the rationale and key concepts of CoC, the main standards are presented and described. Special attention is paid to the document FSC-STD-40-004 V3-0, with regards to both system (or universal) requirements and systems for controlling FSC claims, but additional standards for Controlled Wood, reclaimed materials and multisite/group certification are briefly presented as well. Finally, FSC labelling requirements are introduced. Chapter 7 is complemented by Chapter 14, which deals with the FSC standards for CoC auditing.
