ABSTRACT
Rabbi Sonnenfeld 1 was one of the most important figures of Orthodox Jewish life in Palestine in the first half of the twentieth century. He was born in the area of today's Slovakia in the village of Vrbové (at that time it was a hamlet in Hungary with the Hungarian name Verbó).
