The concept of identification: an evaluation of its current status and significance for group psychotherapy

The present paper involves an attempt to present a conceptualization of the process of identification as it occurs during the course of group psychotherapy. The positions of psychoanalytic theory, learning theory, social learning theory, and the psychology of cognition with regard to identification will be explored and integrated into a unified conceptual framework.
