ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the path of a modern warrior and prospective of major teachings in Native Student Leadership. The author, Corey Still graduated with a degree in Native American Studies, and he is proud to say that he started his graduate work in higher education leadership at Northeastern State University. He was introduced to Director of American Indian Student Life at the American Indian New Student Orientation and met many of the student leaders, the professors. The author also worked for American Indian Student Life as a student coordinator and American Indian Scholarship coordinator. Respect encompasses much more than human-to-human encounters and relationship. As student leaders people are preparing to take on that role of warrior to ensure the well-being of our Indian people. People have had to overcome social and civic injustices, but as leaders they have to stand up every time they are knocked down, not for themselves but for our people.
