ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces readers to relationships between Indigenous identities and leadership in diverse educational environments and institutions and will benefit policy makers in education, student affairs professionals, scholars, faculty and students. Natalie C. Becenti is an alumnus of the University of New Mexico. Now an academic advisor, she hopes to encourage young adults to be active in their communities. She became a student success leader with American Indian Student Services. Her time was spent with staff, helping put together events for the students and including her in the different programs. The director of American Indian Student Services, Pamela Agoyo had a big influence to broaden her knowledge about student affairs. She wants children to view the world as a beautiful place that has so many opportunities open to them. They have a chance to be a part of the change in this world.
