ABSTRACT

I grew up in a family of athletes surrounded by sport on a daily basis. My father was a coach and university professor and my mother raised a family of three boys. I played every sport imaginable and was literally “in the locker room” as a young boy. I am absolutely convinced that this type of environmental exposure was instrumental in my development as an applied sport consultant. The world of golf is a small one. My father was a collegiate golf coach for 39 years, was an inaugural member of the Golf Coaches Hall of Fame, and knew many people in golf. Although I was not a golfer, I played football (through the collegiate level), basketball, track and field, baseball, and every other sport. Both of my brothers were excellent golfers and played at the university level. Needless to say, we lived and breathed sports in our family. Moreover, my vocation in sport was a foregone conclusion.
