ABSTRACT

The exploring of entrepreneurial opportunities is about the development of new ideas and the building of those ideas into thriving businesses. But to develop new business opportunities, various resources and capabilities are needed to bring the new ideas to reality. Starting a new business usually involves dealing with very limited human and capital resources to the extent that bootstrapping often starts ventures. Furthermore, entrepreneurship usually occurs in complex and dynamic environments, so it is a nontrivial challenge for researchers to constructively make inroads in addressing this important issue. Given these challenges, it is both fascinating and important to probe why some people and not others choose to pursue and develop a potential opportunity. Indeed, the skills and capabilities utilized in pursuing a new venture and developing its full potential tend to be unique and demanding.
