      ABSTRACT

Current research studies on massive open online courses (MOOCs) highlight issues such as the influence of MOOCs on the future of higher education, the effects of MOOCs on teaching and learning, the educational problems that MOOCs might solve, gaps in MOOC research, and blending face-to-face classes with online MOOC classes, The main objective of the linked courses is to enable students to engage in a collaborative design process while learning to use multimedia authoring software, and then apply this knowledge in an authentic team-based environment. The Webscape model could be characterized as a design-based research project since it is focused on improving educational practices, promoting reflection, and encouraging collaboration between researchers and practitioners in real-world settings. From the author's perspective as instructors, there were numerous challenges in applying the Webscape model to the design and development of the MOOCs.
