ABSTRACT

The teachings from the Gayanashagowa of the Haudenosaunee frame the thinking and the work of inter-tribal scholars across North America. This special edition of the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education is designed to reflect research through the four core values of the Comanche Nation: relationships, responsibility, redistribution, and reciprocity. These values are found throughout Indian Country and it is hoped that the discussion on research, generated through this lens, will provide opportunities for further collaboration. The selections include emerging scholars and elders and represent a holistic look at qualitative research, with both indigenous and non-indigenous scholars’ perspectives. I am honored to know these scholars through their research and practice. In this edition, you will find multiple opportunities to engage them and I invite you to take the opportunity to continue the conversations.
