ABSTRACT
This short afterword to Global Criminal and Sovereign Free Economies and the Demise of the Western Democracies provides some commentary and thoughts on the major trends identified and findings reached in this special volume. Specifically, it addresses the impacts new IPEs have on the Westphalian state and the middle class and their related futures. Further, a few of the emergent and near distant trends taking place—not organic to the chapters of this work—will be brought to bear. At the outset, however, we have identified six important themes from the book project regarding the twenty-first-century IPE.
