In the previous version of this chapter, we reviewed anecdotal claims, research, and controversies about auditory integration training (AIT) from the earliest published mentions until 2001 (Mudford & Cullen, 2005). Our intention for the present chapter was to update the review to include research published after 2001. However, despite an extensive literature search, we found that no new research has been published on the efficacy or otherwise of AIT. Perhaps would-be researchers of AIT decided, as had we, that research funding would be better allocated to examining treatments with greater potential to provide benefits.
