ABSTRACT

I begin this chapter with a quote from Dina * , a worker in Toronto's AIDS sector and a participant in my doctoral research on the emergence and evolution of ethno-specific AIDS service organizations (e-ASOs) in Toronto. Her quote happens literally at the beginning of the interview, as soon as the voice recorder was turned on. It was her response to my thanking her for participating. It reads: “Thank you for undertaking this type of research. I think it is a very important topic, and like I said, it's timely” (Dina).
