ABSTRACT
This chapter delves into the consumption patterns of middle-class households in Africa. Consumption patterns reflect households’ material living conditions and shed light on changes in their tastes and habits, as well as increases in discretionary income. Investigating consumption patterns and how they change over time helps policymakers, as well as producers of goods and services, to assess current and future household needs.
