ABSTRACT

In 1961 the report ‘Homes for Today and Tomorrow’ was published by the Parker Morris Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHLG). The standards in this report, which subsequently became widely known as Parker Morris Standards, were imposed as mandatory on local authority housing in 1967 and were converted to metric in 1968. They were not adhered to by the private sector and ceased to be mandatory in 1981.
