ABSTRACT
Part of the official International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA) book series, the present volume is dedicated to the work of Karlfried Knapp on the occasion of his retirement, in 2011, from the University of Erfurt, Germany. Among his many achievements, Knapp was Secretary General of AILA until 2008, co-editor of the De Gruyter’s series of Handbooks on Applied Linguistics, editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Applied Linguistics, and author of numerous contributions to the field of Foreign Language Communication and Learning.
