ABSTRACT

Traveling through the doors of colonialism, English language has always influenced the people of Pakistan despite many controversies. In Pakistan, English enjoys the status of language for development at both the individual and national levels. Likewise, the educational system of Pakistan is marked with the excessive preference attached to the English language, which is used as a medium of instruction and education. All-Wright illustrates textbooks as resource books for ideas and activities rather than as instructional material. Textbooks are an explicit and concrete translation of the ideologies presented in the curricula, and objectives and goals defined in the syllabi as well as curricula. In the beginning, the West Pakistan Textbook Board adopted books published by private publishing houses. The term, West Pakistan Textbook Board was substituted by the Punjab Textbook Board by the Ordinance V of 1971.
