ABSTRACT

This chapter includes an introduction of ePortfolios and their uses in relation to Web 2.0 technology in higher education, as well as a perspective on learning theories related to ePortfolio development. Based on the literature reviewed, definitions of an ePortfolio are presented so as to provide a framework for this approach to learning design. In addition, the developmental processes related to ePortfolios and their relationship to online learning is examined, as well as perspectives from the literature of the claims in education that ePortfolios have offered.
