ABSTRACT
Appropriate Sustainable Energy Technologies (ASETs) define a class of products designed specifically for, and used by, the Energy Poor, or the 1.3 billion people in the world without access to electricity (International Energy Agency 2014). ASETs must be affordable, portable, and easy to distribute at a price point that the market can bear. Whether these products relate to energy, access to water, agricultural methods, transportation, or other life-enhancing technologies, the enterprise approach is the only way to reach the billions of people who need these products most. Accordingly, this chapter delineates Nokero’s use of the enterprise approach in delivering one class of ASETs: sustainable energy products.
