ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how provider knowledge, training, and skills impact the effectiveness of different parenting education services. It also focuses on workforce development and the training of parenting education providers. Finally, there will be an increasing influence of genetics and biological factors on the field of parenting education. Benefit-cost will likely become the major determining factor in the widespread funding for parenting education programs. Emerging technologies may drastically change the landscape of parenting education over the coming decades. In addition to the use of technology in delivering parenting education services to parents it will be used with increased frequency to facilitate the dissemination and scaling of evidence-based programs. As the field of parenting education moves forward, the current focus on evidence-based programs and practice will continue to strengthen and expand. Trends in this regard will include an increasing focus on the cost-effectiveness of parenting education services, on effective implementation and dissemination, as well as the use of technology.
