ABSTRACT

Teachers often plan assiduously to ensure curriculum coverage, cognisant of NC requirements and assessment structures. Arguably, this view of the curriculum as planned, in response to the prescribed requirements, has dominated over the conception of the curriculum as lived/experienced. However, in the context of curriculum change, there is increased scope to make professional choices based on sound research evidence and teachers’ own knowledge and understanding. More creative approaches to the curriculum are being developed.
