For example, Wikipedia includes entries featuring many hundreds of films focused on scores of sports.1 The scope of sports included within the genre is vast, going beyond obvious ones such as American football, baseball, boxing, and basketball. Among other sports explored in movies are track and field athletics, auto racing, bobsledding, caving, figure skating, golf, gymnastics, rodeo, rowing, sailing, skateboarding, skiing, tennis, water polo, and wrestling.
