ABSTRACT
This chapter overviews debates about the ethical dilemmas of mining, examining the implications of using industry-based frameworks such as corporate social responsibility (CSR) to address them. It critiques the neoliberal models of governance, regulation, and participation that undergird CSR by focusing on the environmental and labor dimensions of coal and uranium mining.
