ABSTRACT
This contribution surveys a number of proposals that fall under the heading of “rewilding,” ranging from passive and often inadvertent rewilding that involves letting nature go its own way, to increasingly interventionist examples of active rewilding. The distinction between active and passive rewilding roughly tracks Boym’s distinction between restorative and reflective nostalgia.
